THE MUSIC
18 pieces by 15 classical music composers in ‘Maestro Orpheus and the World Clock’, though primarily chosen for their intrinsic beauty, the listeners’ pleasure, and to complement the story line, are linked thematically around the subjects of time and memory.
The majority of the music was recorded specifically for this production in London, England by the English Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Ian Watson. The piano soloist. was Elizabeth Acker. Two of the selections (excerpts from Holst’s The Planets and Strauss’ Also Sprach Zarathustra) were licenced.
The recording was produced by Mark Stafford at Jungle Music Studios, Toronto, ON in 1996. Jeremy Short and Chris Brown were the engineers, with sound effects by Sonny Keyes, and the synthesized ‘lyre’ performance by Doug Wilde.
This is a listing of each musical selection in each of the chapters in the story.
